Objective of NSS

  • Understand the community in which they work.
  • Understand themselves in relation to their community.
  • Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process.
  • Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
  • Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems.
  • Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities.
  • Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
  • Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
  • Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters.
  • Practice national integration and social harmony.


  • Identification of the adopted village / slum area.
  • Awareness drives through Youth Rallies.
  • Community participation by involving members of the adopted villages and local institutions.
  • Duration of the NSS Special Camps will be 7 days and the volunteers will have to stay overnight in the camp.
  • Organizing Day Camps on a theme at the adopted villages on selected weekends.
  • Evaluation of the camps to be done with the help of volunteers and the community.
  • Documentation in the form of success stories, news paper clippings, daily reports in students diary, action photographs and video recording to be made.
  • The special camps organized and the report will be sent to all the concerned in-time.
